The VOLUME Summer Program at Bethany Children’s Health Center is a service-based, hands-on learning experience for high school students hoping to pursue degrees or careers in healthcare and allied health (medicine, nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, child life, social work and so on).
Participants have the opportunity to work and interact one-on-one with the Hospital’s pediatric patients at bedside, special education classrooms, and hospital events. VOLUME also includes skill, character and team-building activities, educational presentations from multiple hospital staff, and job shadowing opportunities to prepare for college, careers, and life.
Participants can expect to build lasting friendships with their peers, experience hospital interaction with multiple medical disciplines, and receive exposure to a pediatric hospital setting.

Academic Support volunteers may assist throughout all areas where an educational need may be found at Bethany Children’s Health Center.
Academic Support volunteers help assist patients at their current educational level while admitted into the hospital. Volunteers can expect to support in tutoring subjects in grade levels Kindergarten through 12th.
Bethany Children's Health Center is looking for individuals who are in higher-level classes of high-school, education majors in college, individuals with an education related career, or passion for education.

Activities Recreation & Fine Arts volunteers at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers opportunities to interact with patients through sports related activities within the Activities of Daily Living, Adaptive Baseball Field, Fine Arts and other Activities of Daily Living areas. Volunteers support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide companionship, friendship, education, encouragement, physical and mental activities for patients.
The Education Classroom Volunteer program at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to assist teachers and patients in each of the Hospital’s six special education classrooms. Volunteers support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide companionship, friendship and encouragement to patients.
Classroom volunteers also may serve as Patient Companions, spending one-on-one time with patients at bedside within the Complex Care unit

The "Green Team" Patient Companion program at Bethany Children's Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to provide comfort, entertainment, friendship and stimulation to pediatric patients in the Bed Tower and Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation Unit (PMRU) by spending one-on-one time with patients, Patient Companions support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide peace-of-mind to patients’ families.
The Patient Companion program at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to provide comfort, entertainment, friendship and stimulation to pediatric patients in the Complex Care unit. By spending one-on-one time with patients, Patient Companions support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide peace-of-mind to patients’ families.
