Clinical Hours Program Announcement

Students interested in a clinical internship, observation, rotation, or shadowing at Bethany Children's Health Center are highly encouraged to apply for an opportunity!

The VOLUME Summer Program at Bethany Children’s Health Center is a service-based, hands-on learning experience for high school students hoping to pursue degrees or careers in medicine, allied health, and healthcare administration. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the internal workings of a hospital with positions such as Medicine, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Child Life, Recreational Therapy, and Much More!
Participants have the opportunity to work and interact one-on-one with the Hospital’s pediatric patients at bedside, special education classrooms, and groups. VOLUME also includes skill, character and team-building activities, educational presentations from multiple hospital staff, and job shadowing opportunities to prepare for college, career, and life.
Participants can expect to build lasting friendships with their peers, experience hospital interaction with multiple medical disciplines, and receive exposure to a pediatric hospital setting.

Academic Support volunteers may assist throughout all areas where an educational need may be found at Bethany Children’s Health Center.
Academic Support volunteers help assist patients at their current educational level while admitted into the hospital. Volunteers can expect to support in tutoring subjects in grade levels Kindergarten through 12th.
Bethany Children's Health Center is looking for individuals who are in higher-level classes of high-school, education majors in college, individuals with an education related career, or passion for education.
Activities Recreation & Fine Arts volunteers at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers opportunities to interact with patients through sports related activities within the Activities of Daily Living, Adaptive Baseball Field, Fine Arts and other Activities of Daily Living areas. Volunteers support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide companionship, friendship, education, encouragement, physical and mental activities for patients.
Administrative Support volunteers may assist throughout many areas and departments Bethany Children’s Health Center. Administrative Support volunteers may assist with areas such as small, non-time sensitive tasks, assist with aspects of hospitality, etc. and designed for individuals who may not want to be patient-facing.
Administrative Support volunteers are not designed to replace job duties of Hospital employees, rather to enhance and support staff with fun, creative, administrative opportunities to further the Mission and Culture of Bethany Children’s Health Center.

The Koala Care program at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to provide comfort, stimulation, and peace to infant patients throughout the Hospital. By spending one-on-one time with patients, Koala Care supports the work Hospital staff by providing soothing interaction with infants and bringing peace-of-mind to patient families.
Music Support volunteers assist the Music Therapist in the sessions with patients and assist with special activities.
The "Green Team" Patient Companion program at Bethany Children's Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to provide comfort, entertainment, friendship and stimulation to pediatric patients in the Bed Tower and Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation Unit (PMRU) by spending one-on-one time with patients, Patient Companions support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide peace-of-mind to patients’ families.
The Patient Companion program at Bethany Children’s Health Center offers volunteers the opportunity to provide comfort, entertainment, friendship and stimulation to pediatric patients in the Complex Care unit. By spending one-on-one time with patients, Patient Companions support the work of the Hospital’s staff and provide peace-of-mind to patients’ families.

Bethany Children's Health Center aims to transform the waiting room experience to a fun, anxiety-free environment with the help of our volunteers.
Play While You Wait volunteers provide engaging activities such as crafts, games, and puzzles to patients and siblings in Outpatient Services.
Within the Mission, Vision and Core Beliefs of Bethany Children’s Health Center, our Christian principles firmly root in the power and belief that change occurs alongside prayer. This belief in prayer extends outside the walls of the hospital and offers to extend opportunities for individuals, groups and community partners to come alongside the hospital in prayer.
Therapy Gym Volunteers at Bethany Children’s Health Center are available only for high school, college, and graduate students pursuing degrees in physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreation therapy, music therapy, or speech-language pathology.
This position provides an opportunity to volunteer in the Hospital’s largest inpatient therapy gym. Therapy Gym Volunteers enhance the overall patient experience by interacting with staff, patients, and families, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace for therapy sessions.
Therapy Gym Volunteers can expect to fulfill a Patient Companion position in the event therapy sessions are reduced or cancelled.
